Nagi Gianni

Nominee 2018

«Hunters», 2018
With: La Batut, Tatiana Baumgartner, Chaiiv, Isabelle Chladek

With his performance in Museum Tinguely, Nagi Gianni creates a situation where several actors confront the audience in a reciprocal interplay of observing and being observed. The work examines power relationships through constellations that manifest as voyeurism, observation, or intimidation through gaze. As human affectation merges with animal instinct, the boundaries between species are permeated, offering space for new forms of corporeality and presence. Differences between individual versus group behavior and conflicts of adaptation, camouflage and loneliness are highlighted. Also exposed is how animals and their characteristics are represented and mimicked within visual cultures.
