«Ocean Spirit», 2021

Pavel Aguilar nutzt eine alte indigene Technik, wenn er Muscheln zu Blasinstrumenten umgestaltet und sie erklingen lässt. Das Muschelhorn ist Teil der Kultur der Garifuna. Diese afro-indigene Bevölkerungsgruppe wurde 1796/97 von der karibischen Insel St. Vincent vertrieben und lebt heute weit verstreut, jedoch verbunden durch ihre musikalische Praxis. Diese Kultur ist bedroht, genauso wie die Küsten und die Meere, mit denen sie natürlich verbunden ist. Mit einer Symphonie von eindringlichen Muschelklängen will der Künstler Gemeinschaft herstellen und den «Geist der Meere» heraufbeschwören, der auch unsere Landschaft einst umwehte, wie Pavel Aguilar festhält.
